Recently, Saudi Arabia’s first batch of large-scale battery energy storage projects has officially broken ground and entered the substantive construction phase. Leveraging its product and technological strengths in energy storage as well as global service capabilities, Gotion High-Tech has won the core 6 GWh energy storage order for the project, delivering full-suite energy storage solutions for Saudi Arabia’s three major primary energy storage sites. This marks Gotion High-Tech’s breakthrough into the high-end Middle Eastern energy storage market, and serves as a key example of Chinese energy storage enterprises’ deep engagement in the Middle East’s new energy transition and the formation of a new landscape for the global energy storage industry.
The Middle East features harsh climatic conditions: extreme aridity, frequent sandstorms and drastic temperature swings between day and night. Adopting the BOO (Build-Own-Operate) long-term operation model, the project imposes stringent technical requirements on the reliability, durability and sustainability of energy storage products. To address local extreme working conditions and core demands for long-term operation, Gotion High-Tech has custom-developed an integrated full-scenario energy storage system solution for the project.
At the heart of the solution lies Gotion High-Tech’s proprietary Qianyuan Intelligent Energy Storage System, boasting high integration, large capacity and long cycle life. Powered by core technologies including modular integration, precise temperature control and intelligent battery management, the equipment operates stably across an ultra-wide temperature range of -30℃ to 55℃. Equipped with dedicated protection measures against high temperatures and sandstorms, the system achieves markedly improved stability and reliability in complex environments, fully safeguarding the safe, stable and long-term operation of Saudi Arabia’s first batch of large-scale battery storage projects.
Once completed and commissioned, the project will centrally store surplus photovoltaic power generated in daytime and release electricity in an orderly manner during peak power consumption periods, enhancing Saudi Arabia’s power grid capacity to accommodate renewable energy and its flexible regulation capability.
