Anhui's gross domestic product (GDP) reached 2.737 trillion yuan in the first half of 2026, up 5.6 percent year on year at constant prices, according to data released at a press conference held by the Information Office of the Anhui Provincial Government.

Industrial production remained a major driver of growth. The value added of industrial enterprises above the designated size increased by 12.4 percent year on year in the first half, 1.4 percentage points higher than the growth recorded in the first quarter. Manufacturing expanded by 13.9 percent, while value added in the equipment manufacturing and high-tech manufacturing sectors rose by 22.7 percent and 44.6 percent, respectively, significantly outpacing overall industrial growth.

Foreign trade also posted strong growth. The province's total imports and exports of goods reached 616.96 billion yuan during the first half of the year, up 34.3 percent year on year. Exports rose 37.6 percent to 426.31 billion yuan, while imports increased 27.5 percent to 190.65 billion yuan. Exports of high-tech products climbed 78.3 percent, accounting for 29.7 percent of the province's total exports. Exports of the "new trio" products—electric vehicles, lithium-ion batteries and photovoltaic products—more than doubled, while automobile exports also doubled to 104.36 billion yuan. Imports and exports by private enterprises increased by 39.2 percent, accounting for 53.6 percent of the province's total foreign trade.

Agricultural production remained stable. The output value of the planting industry increased by 2.9 percent year on year. Summer grain acreage expanded by 0.5 percent to 43.537 million mu, while total output rose 0.9 percent to 17.77 million tonnes. Average yield reached 408.2 kilograms per mu, up 0.4 percent, marking simultaneous growth in planting area, yield and total output.

Residents' incomes continued to increase steadily. Per capita disposable income reached 21,075 yuan in the first half of the year, representing nominal growth of 5.6 percent and real growth of 4.2 percent after adjusting for price changes. Urban residents recorded per capita disposable income of 27,490 yuan, up 4.8 percent nominally and 3.6 percent in real terms, while rural residents saw their per capita disposable income rise to 13,690 yuan, with nominal and real growth of 6.2 percent and 4.6 percent, respectively.

Overall, Anhui's economy maintained steady growth with improving quality and efficiency in the first half of the year. However, challenges remain as the external environment grows increasingly complex and imbalances between supply and demand persist. Going forward, the province will continue to expand domestic demand, optimize supply and strengthen the foundation for sustained economic recovery while responding to external uncertainties through high-quality development.
