Anhui's New Cultural Landmark Project Has Taken Shape
As a new cultural landmark in Anhui Province, construction of the Anhui Provincial Cultural Center New Hall and Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Hall project (hereinafter referred to as the "Two Pavilions" project) has been progressing vigorously since its official launch in December 2023. On the afternoon of July 29th, reporters visited the construction site and learned that the main structural work on the project has now been completely finished, with the overall form of the buildings essentially taking shape.
Located at the northwest corner of the intersection of Ziyun Road and Jiangsu Road in Baohe District, Hefei City, the Anhui Provincial Cultural Center New Hall and Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Hall project boasts a total construction area of 32,400 square meters. This includes an above-ground area of 23,402 square meters and an underground area of 8,998 square meters. Designed to meet two-star green building standards, the architecture features a "hui" character courtyard layout for both pavilions, creating structures that are distinct yet interconnected.
On the afternoon of July 29th, when reporters entered the site of the "Two Pavilions" project, they observed workers actively engaged in construction activities.
Currently, the main structural construction of the project has been fully completed. Interior finishing and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) installation works are largely finished. Outdoor engineering is underway, with exterior glass curtain walls and marble cladding currently undergoing edge finishing treatments. The overall form of the project has essentially taken shape.
The steel structure corridor between the two buildings, with a maximum span of 71.4 meters, is a two-layer steel beam structure weighing 400 tons. Its upper chord elevation reaches 23.1 meters, and the maximum lifting height is approximately 20 meters. The corridor was hoisted using an integrated hydraulic lifting technology. This technology employs stroke monitoring, upper and lower anchor sensor detection, and computer control. Through real-time data feedback and control command transmission, it achieves fully automated functions including synchronized movement, load balancing, posture correction, stress control, operation locking, process visualization, and fault alarm.
According to the introduction, the exterior walls of the "Two Pavilions" project are clad with stone finishes, creating an overall solemn yet elegant and luminous aesthetic that embodies intangible cultural heritage. The buildings are interconnected, featuring a "hui" character courtyard layout that combines separation with integration through multiple connecting corridors.
It is reported that upon completion, the new Cultural Center will become the province-wide center for popularizing art within the entire cultural center system. Meanwhile, the Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Hall will serve as Anhui's most authoritative and comprehensive provincial-level public welfare facility dedicated to showcasing intangible cultural heritage (ICH). It will also be the main venue for hosting large-scale intangible cultural heritage exhibitions in Anhui, a key base for conducting social education on intangible cultural heritage, and an important platform for domestic and international exchange of intangible cultural heritage within the province.
