At the start of the 15th Five‑Year Plan, Hefei is using project resumptions as a lever to accelerate construction kickoffs, letting practical work sound the New Year overture for the city's high‑quality development.
Drilling rigs roar into life as the southward extension of Susong Road opens the city's New Year construction season; 70 workers promptly reported for duty on the West Extension of the Beierhuan Road, bringing a "start fast, sprint on" spirit to the works.
"Currently, the east‑bank retaining structures are all complete, and the project has formally entered the critical phase of foundation pit excavation and main‑structure construction," said the project leader for the West Extension of the Beierhuan Road. As a key component of Hefei's "five east–west and seven north–south dense" highway grid, once completed the project will form a dual express corridor with Changjiangxi Road, creating a new traffic axis in the northern urban area, enhancing the integrity of the main urban road network and effectively supporting Hefei's twin‑wing development strategy and its build‑out as a global science and innovation hub.

At present, a series of key projects—including Section 2 of the Nanerhuan Road West Extension and the Hefei No.168 Shaoquan Lake Middle School—have resumed work. With machines thundering and workers moving about on site, builders have beaten the drum for construction, racing the schedule, ensuring quality and safety, and striving to accelerate the pace of resumption and production. Remaining projects will resume in the coming days, using concrete results to secure a steady and successful start to 2026 and laying a solid foundation for meeting annual targets.
As the city's transit "artery," Hefei's rail projects have also sounded the charge for resumption. On February 24, work restarted first on several items including the electromechanical Section 3 of Metro Line 7 Phase I, the inspection and stabling line, and the Wulidun ancillary structures on the Xinqiao Airport S1 Line; other construction works are also being pushed forward intensively.

So far, more than ten contract sections of Hefei's rail projects have fully passed resumption inspections. Over a thousand managers and workers have reported for duty, key positions have 100% certified staffing, and all major machinery has completed maintenance—putting the projects in a condition to operate at full capacity.
Hefei's operational metro network now totals 259 kilometers, with transit ridership accounting for more than 60% of passenger trips—making "taking the subway" part of daily life. The accelerated advancement of lines under construction will further densify the urban transport network and greatly improve travel convenience for residents.
On February 21, the Section 2 of Phase I of the Shushan District Flooding Hotspot and Municipal Drainage Upgrade project officially pressed the fast‑forward button for resumption. At the restart site, machines roared and teams worked in a "full‑throttle, racing against time" posture; construction crews coordinated to simultaneously advance key tasks such as laying pipes at waterlogging points and rechecking pipeline networks, with priority given to preparatory works for the pipe‑jacking section on Xiuning Road.

"This project is like performing surgery on the underground pipe network," the project manager said, "focusing on resolving rainwater accumulation on Shitai Road, Qimen Road and Huaining Road, while reworking and optimizing the Xiuning Road stormwater system."
The project spans 4.07 kilometers and primarily includes renovation of storm‑sewer mixed connection points, remediation of pipeline defects, municipal road demolition and restoration, and restoration of ancillary facilities such as landscaping. Once completed, it will significantly optimize the regional flood control and drainage system and effectively enhance the city's resilience to extreme rainfall and other severe weather events.
