During the first month of the lunar calendar, various and rich cultural activities are vigorously carried out across Anhui. People enjoy watching lanterns and appreciating folk customs, fully experiencing the unique charm of Anhui.
As the first month of the lunar calendar ushers in the spring, every household is alive with the festive glow of lanterns. On the eve of the Lantern Festival, the historic district of Sanjiangkou in Tunxi District, Huangshan City, the ancient village of Chengkan in Huizhou District with its millennium-old history, and Langbu Street in Langxi County, Xuancheng City, come alive with the dance of dragon and fish lanterns. These luminous creatures leap and twirl to the beat of drums, weaving through ancient alleyways and gliding along waterfronts, painting a series of resplendent scenes.
During the Lunar New Year celebrations, nocturnal attractions at various tourist destinations have emerged as a novel choice for visitors. At the Wuhu Fantawild scenic area, traditional folk performances such as the intangible cultural heritage box lanterns and the fiery spectacle of iron flower forging have taken center stage, drawing crowds of tourists to pause and admire. Meanwhile, at the Bali River scenic spot in Yingshang County, Fuyang City, the grandeur of colossal lanterns, fire pots, and an awe-inspiring drone display have provided spectators with a visual feast.
The Hefei Intangible Cultural Heritage special performance was lively held in Sanhe Ancient Town, Feixi County. The event created a new cultural and touristic consumption scenario through three major sections: an immersive intangible cultural heritage performance, a living market experience, and a special food tasting.
In Guoyang County of Bozhou City, Wuhe County of Bengbu City, and Huoqiu County of Lu'an City, the lively dragon and lion dances, along with the land boats and floral shoulder poles, are part of the colorful and earthy folk street parades. These activities offer people an intimate experience of the festive ambiance and the enchanting allure of traditional culture.
