Anhui Energy Group's 800 MW Qitai PV Project Connected to Grid
At 12:28 on December 11, the 800‑megawatt Qitai centralized photovoltaic project, developed and constructed by Anhui Energy Group, was successfully connected to the grid in the Gurbantunggut Desert. As the largest photovoltaic project supporting the UHV “Jiquan” transmission line, this project represents another important achievement in the provincial energy group's deepening of Xinjiang‑Anhui cooperation and in promoting the transmission of Xinjiang electricity to Anhui.

Located north of Qitai County in Changji Prefecture, Xinjiang, the project covers roughly 20,000 mu (about 13.3 km²) and has an annual generation capacity of 1.35 billion kWh. It can save about 410,000 tons of standard coal and reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 1.06 million tons. As a key power source for the UHV “Jiquan” line, the project will continuously transmit electricity to Anhui and the East China region, increasing the share of green power delivered from Xinjiang and supporting improvements in Anhui’s energy supply security and industrial energy restructuring.

During construction, the project implemented ecological measures such as planting drought‑tolerant vegetation on site and creating wildlife passages, effectively protecting and improving the local ecosystem. This initiative exemplifies the integration of energy supply with ecological sand control efforts and has yielded significant environmental benefits.
In recent years, Anhui Energy Group has actively pursued a strategic optimization of its layout, expanding beyond Anhui while serving the province by leveraging its technological, talent and capital strengths to develop energy industries in Northwest China. It has commissioned four 660,000‑kW thermal power units in East Jungar (Zhundong) and is accelerating the deployment of wind, photovoltaic and energy‑storage projects in Turpan, Hami, Hetian and other areas, further deepening Anhui‑Xinjiang energy cooperation.
Going forward, Anhui Energy Group will vigorously develop new energy sources and continue to write new chapters in Anhui energy personnel’s pursuit of “light” and the chase for “green.”
