On the morning of February 13, Quanjiao County launched the grand "Walking on Taiping Bridge for Peace" event for the Lunar New Year 2025. As a unique traditional folk celebration of this "thousand-year ancient county," the event has undergone over 1,500 years of history and is hailed as a "living fossil of Chinese folk customs." It is not only a treasure of Anhui's intangible cultural heritage but has also been honored by the Provincial Sports Bureau as one of the "Top Ten Brands of National Fitness in Anhui," and recognized by the General Administration of Sports of China as an "Outstanding Folk Sports Cultural Project."
Every year on the 16th day of the first lunar month, tourists from near and far gather with local residents to walk across the Taiping Bridge on the Xiang River, symbolizing a journey of peace and a wish for safety and good fortune in the new year. At the event site, dazzling fireworks burst in the sky, the sounds of firecrackers conveyed joy and blessings, and the fragrant incense wafted, expressing people's longing for a prosperous life. Participants tied red ribbons and enjoyed a variety of folk performances, creating a vibrant festive atmosphere filled with hopes for the new year.
