Recently, the large-scale drone operation project in the oil fields of the Beibu Gulf waters was officially launched. The TD550 heavy-load unmanned helicopter, manufactured in Wanzhi District, Wuhu City, served as core equipment in this project, establishing an integrated operation system. This has become an "Air Powerhouses" for offshore energy development and the support of livelihoods on islands, marking the deep integration of China's "low-altitude economy + marine energy" entering the large-scale commercial application stage.

This project covers 41 offshore platforms and 2 onshore terminal facilities, establishing an integrated drone operation system for pipeline inspections, logistics distribution, and emergency safety response. The TD550, with its ability to withstand takeoff and landing in winds of level 6 and flight in winds of level 8, a single load capacity of over 200 kilograms, and long-range cross-sea delivery capabilities, has overcome four major industry bottlenecks: volatile maritime weather, geographical barriers, high costs, and time delays. It has achieved an efficiency increase of over 30%, annual cost savings of nearly 15 million yuan, and a reduction of 25,000 tons of carbon emissions.

The successful application of the TD550 is underpinned by the comprehensive support of Wuhu's low-altitude economic industrial cluster. In 2025, the output value of Wuhu's aviation industry base reached 35 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 32.6%. United Aircraft landed in Wuhu's Wanzhi Aviation Industrial Park, establishing the world's only mass production base for the TD550. With a total investment of 2.4 billion yuan, it has built "one academy and four bases," achieving an annual production capacity of 50 medium and large unmanned aerial vehicles. This enables the entire process of the model—from the assembly of key components to the whole aircraft airworthiness verification, test flight calibration, and delivery assurance—to be completed locally, solidifying "Made in Wuhu" as a significant label for China's heavy-load drones as they venture into the blue ocean.

It is reported that, supported by the production capacity of the Wuhu base, the TD550 has already secured overseas orders for thousands of units. In the future, this model will expand into more application scenarios, such as offshore wind power, deep-sea exploration, and emergency rescue, contributing Wuhu's strength to Anhui's efforts to build a new highland for coordinated marine economic development.
