On June 28, the Clinical Research Hospital of the First Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical University was officially inaugurated. As the first clinical research hospital in northern Anhui and the third across the province, it fills the gap of high-standard, systematic clinical research platforms in northern Anhui and adds a new driving force to pharmaceutical innovation in Anhui Province.

While undertaking routine diagnosis and treatment services, a clinical research hospital actively carries out innovative research on new drugs, medical devices, diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, as well as treatment regimens. Through clinical trials, it verifies the safety and efficacy of cutting-edge research outcomes, accelerating the translation of "scientific breakthroughs" achieved in laboratories into effective therapies for patients.

For patients with advanced cancers and rare diseases who respond poorly to conventional treatments, the clinical research hospital offers them opportunities to try novel treatment regimens free of charge or at low costs on an informed and voluntary basis. These cutting-edge medical solutions include much-discussed new anti-cancer drugs, targeted therapies, CAR-T cell therapy for tumors, and brain-computer interface-assisted treatment, opening new prospects for safeguarding public health.

The First Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical University has long been committed to clinical research, laying a solid foundation for the launch of its clinical research hospital. It is among the first batch of medical institutions in Anhui qualified for national-level drug clinical trials, and the province’s exclusive special base for vaccine clinical trials. In 2025, it obtained the highest-level GCP certification — an honor exclusive to merely 20 medical institutions nationwide, and the sole recipient in Anhui.

At present, the hospital has built a domestically leading clinical pharmacology base and an independently administered clinical trial research center. It boasts the province’s earliest Phase I clinical research platform and research wards. Furthermore, it has established a collaborative network covering all of northern Anhui via 83 medical alliance members, forming a tiered clinical trial system.

The newly inaugurated Clinical Research Hospital of the First Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical University is the third clinical research hospital established in Anhui, following the Clinical Research Hospital of the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University and the Clinical Research Hospital affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
