In the early hours of April 5, with the final batch of concrete precisely poured into the closure segment, the Huanghu River Grand Bridge — part of Section II of the G236 project in Fanchang District, Wuhu, and constructed by Anhui Construction Investment Group — achieved successful closure. This milestone marks a breakthrough in the project’s construction and officially sounds the “charge” toward opening to traffic.

The Section II of the G236 project in Fanchang District begins at Dadongshan in Digang Town and ends at Donglian Town in Yi'an District, Tongling City, spanning approximately 5.839 kilometers. The highway is designed as a first‑class road with two directions and four lanes. As the control structure of this section, the Huanghu River Grand Bridge measures 1,123.5 meters in total length and comprises eight spans. The closure segment poured in this operation is located at the midspan of the left carriageway of the bridge’s eighth span and utilized the form traveler (cantilever) casting method, a procedure demanding extremely high standards of precision and safety.

To ensure the successful closure of the Huanghu River Grand Bridge, the project team established a dedicated technical group, and implemented a round‑the‑clock shift duty system, closely monitoring key parameters such as bridge alignment and temperature variations throughout the process. At the same time, in light of the site’s topography and construction challenges, the team repeatedly optimized the construction plan and detailed the timing and operational specifications for each procedure, providing scientifically reliable technical support for the closure.

The successful closure of the Huanghu River Grand Bridge has created favorable conditions for subsequent operations such as deck paving. Going forward, the project office will continue to strengthen safety production management, further improve the level of construction, and spare no effort to advance the remaining works.

Once completed, the project will be of significant importance to Fanchang District’s deepening of regional cooperation, proactive integration into the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and full alignment with the Yangtze River Delta region. It will further help raise the capacity for industrial undertaking and transfer, optimize resource allocation, and enhance regional coordinated development capabilities.
