【AICC Original Article】Three high‑speed rail lines in Anhui are scheduled to open this year
In 2026, construction of the "Yangtze River Delta on Rails" is accelerating. The Huaibei-Fuyang High‑Speed Railway, independently built by the Anhui Provincial Investment Group, and the Chaohu-Ma'anshan Railway and Huaibei-Bengbu High‑Speed Railway, in which the group participated as an investor, will open for operation successively this year.
Chaohu-Ma'anshan Railway
The Chaohu-Ma'anshan Railway runs from Chaohudong Station in the north to Ma'anshandong Station in the south, with a mainline length of approximately 61 km and a design speed of 350 km/h. The line has five stations — Chaohudong, Hanshan, Zhengpugang, Ma'anshannan, and Ma'anshandong — with Hanshan, Zhengpugang, and Ma'anshannan being newly built.
At Chaohudong Station, the Chaohu-Ma'anshan Railway connects to the Shangqiu–Hefei–Hangzhou High‑Speed Railway, and at Ma'anshandong Station it connects to the Nanjing-Anqing High‑Speed Railway, providing a direct link between Ma'anshan and Anhui's provincial capital, Hefei. Once operational, the project will establish a fast new corridor along both banks of the Wanjiang River, further shortening travel time and spatial distance between the Hefei and Nanjing metropolitan areas.
Currently, track laying along the entire Chaohu-Ma'anshan line has been completed. Decoration and finishing works for Hanshan and Zhengpugang station buildings are essentially finished, and the line is expected to meet static acceptance conditions in April.
Huaibei-Fuyang High‑Speed Railway
The Huaibei-Fuyang High‑Speed Railway connects to the Huaibei-Bengbu High‑Speed Railway at Shuangduiji Station toward Huaibei, includes a connecting line to the Bengbu direction, and continues southwest through Mengcheng to link with Bozhou, entering Fuyangxi Station via Lixin. The mainline is 142.436 km long with a design speed of 350 km/h. Three new stations — Mengcheng, Lixin, and Yingquanbei — will be built, and Fuyangxi Station will be expanded. Upon completion, the Huaibei-Fuyang line will end the absence of high‑speed rail service in Mengcheng County and Lixin County, and significantly shorten travel times from Huaibei and Suzhou to Fuyang.
At present, the main structures of the newly built station buildings have all been completed, and Fuyangxi Station is undergoing reconstruction and expansion.
Huaibei-Bengbu High‑Speed Railway
The Huaibei-Bengbu High‑Speed Railway crosses the northern Anhui plain, starting at Huaibeibei Station on the Huaibei-Xiaoxian connecting line in the north, passing south through the cities of Huaibei, Suzhou, and Bengbu, and terminating at Bengbunan Station. The newly constructed mainline is about 161 km long with a design speed of 350 km/h. The line will have six stations: Huaibeibei, Huaibeixi, Suzhouxi, Shuangduiji, Guzhen South, and Bengbunan. Huaibeibei and Bengbunan are existing stations; the others are newly built. Once opened, the Huaibei-Bengbu line will provide a convenient corridor for the northern Anhui city cluster to connect with the Hefei metropolitan area and the Shanghai‑Nanjing‑Hangzhou regions.
Currently, the concrete structure of Suzhouxi Station's station building has been successfully topped out, and metal roofing and curtain wall installations at Huaibeixi Station are being carried out simultaneously, with the prototype of a modern high‑speed rail station already emerging.
