This year marks the tenth anniversary of the implementation of the Yangtze River Economic Belt development strategy. Over the past decade, Anhui, as a crucial province connecting the eastern and western regions, has consistently prioritized the restoration of the Yangtze River's ecological environment. Adhering firmly to the principle of "prioritizing ecological protection and green development over large-scale development," the province has dedicated itself to safeguarding the clear waters flowing eastward and continuously advancing a series of ecological management and conservation initiatives.

Today, clear waters and lush mountains have become defining features of the Anhui section of the Yangtze River, with the beautiful ecology now rewarding this land in return. A vivid scene of harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature is gradually unfolding here, accumulating valuable experience for the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.

Under the warm winter sun, the Xuejiawa Ecological Park in Ma'anshan City sways with reeds and bustles with visitors.

In the comprehensive improvement of the eastern bank of the Yangtze River, Ma'anshan City has focused on positioning the area as a "riverside landscape display zone, wetland ecological conservation zone, and urban-life integration zone." The city has systematically developed green corridors along the river, conducted thorough inspections of riverside enterprises, and advanced initiatives to "withdraw construction for afforestation."

The effectiveness of ecological management is becoming increasingly evident. Since 2025, the water quality of the Anhui section of the main stem of the Yangtze River has consistently remained at Class II standards, with half of the monitoring indicators at discharge points meeting Class I standards. The number of native fish species in the Anhui stretch of the Yangtze River has reached 78, marking a 47% increase compared to before the fishing ban. The population of the Yangtze finless porpoise has grown to 291, reflecting an 11.9% rise since the implementation of the fishing ban.

A decade of steadfast dedication has given rise to a resounding "Song of the Yangtze" in the new era, echoing across the land of Jianghuai. Prioritizing ecology and pursuing green development, the Yangtze River—a carrier of hope and dreams—now surges forward with even greater grandeur toward a broader and more expansive future.
