On the morning of December 17, the 3rd Hefei Science & Art Week officially kicked off, launching a series of science‑and‑art events.

This year's event, themed "Integrating Science and Art to Innovate and Empower Cultural‑Tourism Development," unveiled five major science‑art cultural‑tourism scenarios and four cultural‑tourism projects at the opening ceremony, with more than a dozen participatory science‑and‑art activities scheduled during the week.

At the opening, an array of exhibits blending technology and art offered audiences a first‑time experience of technology's appeal from an aesthetic perspective.

A lifelike tiger appears poised to leap and "lies" on the screen — when you approach, its gaze follows your movement. The tiger, which many visitors described as "tense" and "real," is presented on a light‑field holographic screen developed by the Jianghuai Advanced Technology Center. A 3D microstructured optical film on the surface encodes directional information into light, steering it into different directions so multiple viewers from different angles can simultaneously experience a super‑immersive, glasses‑free 3D effect.

Do you know what vitamin C crystals look like under the microscope? Or how anthocyanin color changes are arranged microscopically? On site, Anhui Xinzhi Digital Technology Co. (Beautiful Science) turned these microscopic beauties into refrigerator magnets — among the most popular exhibits. The science‑education collectible set "Kingdom of Elements: The Rhythm of Order" transforms elements from the periodic table into blind‑box ornaments, bringing science into everyday life.

Strolling through the exhibition feels like visiting a spectacular visual show that is nevertheless infused at every turn with a technological spirit.

The opening ceremony attracted over 300 attendees, including leaders from the China Society for Science and Technology Journalism and the China Popular Science Writers Association, heads of institutions such as the University of Science and Technology of China, the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and the Hefei Institute of Physical Science at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as leading domestic and international scientists, artists, and business representatives.

The opening also featured special announcements of achievements and signing ceremonies.

Several projects were successfully signed, including a strategic cooperation memorandum between the Hefei Municipal Government and the Central Academy of Fine Arts and an intent agreement to jointly build a "Science‑Art Integration Innovation Platform."

Six cities — Hangzhou, Xuancheng, Huangshan, Chizhou, Anqing, and Hefei — jointly launched the "From the Huizhou-Hangzhou Ancient Route to Quantum Avenue" study‑tour route, marking the official start of a cross‑temporal journey linking historical cultural threads with modern sci‑tech resources.

During the 3rd Hefei Science & Art Week, more than a dozen activities — including tech‑innovation shows, cultural‑art showcases, and a science‑and‑art carnival — will be rolled out, inviting residents and visitors to participate and check‑in.
